Tethered in a dark corner of the 'sales barn', when she glanced upward, a vacant stare cast a pall over her beautiful brown face. A yellow tag numbered her among many who would be auctioned off into a fate of which they would have no say. 

When she entered the sales ring the first bid cast was that of the local the kill broker. Unbridled raised him, and so it went until the gavel fell to Unbridled. How I GET BY ended up at the Unadilla Auction is an all too familiar story. In July 2022, she sold through an online auction dispersing the horses of Texas breeder Sonny Henderson. Pregnant to DORRANCE, she was purchased by Sierra Wilson in Massachusetts. Not long after Unbridled saved I GET BY, the SPCA seized 20+ malnourished horses owned by Wilson. 

I GET BY is due to foal at the end of February.  She is now 8, and this will be her fourth foal. She has seen and traveled much. She sold for $35,000 as a yearling through Keeneland, and experienced multiple owners and locations. 

She is tall and stately and reticent to make any connection. At Unbridled, we hold space for mares like I GET BY. When she is ready to show us who she is, our hearts will embrace her and help her to heal and become whole.
